Travelling to Croatia

Just a little travel information for those who have this urge to pop by this country called Croatia. This is one thing that you need to do before you can travel in peace in Croatia. No joke. Don't say that I didn't tell you!!

To all travellers travelling to Croatia:
Please report to your local police station with the owner of the property (if you are staying at a private accommodation as opposed to hotels) and the relevant papers within 24 hours of your arrival in Croatia (if you reach anytime after 6pm please report early next morning at 7am). Or else face a fine of 500kn (1EUR=7,1Kn) if you are stopped by any police officer. You can also be detained at the police station until further notice and BANNED from entering Croatia ever again.

So please take note!!!

this law is just a dead letter on paper de facto.
the worst thing that can happen to you is getting harrased by a police officer and then giving him 50 kunas for a beer to leave you alone.
you can not be detained in at the police station for a long period of time, as foreign citizens are being processed in court immediately.
also, the penalty for such a horrible crime is not 500 kn but between 500 and 3000 kn, but the smallest possible fine (500 kn) is always rewarded.
my wife who is not an american citizen has not registered at the local police station, and has also stayed in the country a lot longer than the 3 months at a time as allowed by law, and the customs and borders people or whatever they are called didn't say or do anything.

Hi!
Your wife must be pretty lucky to escape the eyes of those "Turbo Oko" Policija then.
I believe I will not be that lucky since I'm not WHITE.
